Tempering Anger
By Joey Lam
Everyone gets angry. This is a fact. It could be due to stress, frustration and many other reasons. This can be detrimental to our health. Sometimes, anger can ruin relationships, especially within the family. The good news is that we can learn how to manage that anger and be in control. What do I mean by controlling anger ? Anger is okay to be expressed when appropriate. Thus, being in control of anger means knowing when anger is justified and when it is unnecessary. First, being joyful and being positive can be healthier for us and for people around us. Being positive and peaceful can be hard work at first, if it not your normal self, but is going to be worth it. Changing the way you do things takes time. You may feel like giving up, but please do not. Cultivate a joyful and positive mindset can bring you the peace needed to control your anger. We spoke about anger not being healthy to the family. So try the following and practise these ideas when you get angry. Remember, it is a journey and be patient with yourself and enjoy the process. 1. Take a deep breath until you are calmed down. Do not react when you are angry. 2. Think about the positive aspects of the person. They are your loved ones so think about what you love about them. 3. Talk things over and discuss. Do not direct. 4. Be sensitive to other's desires and recognise any differences. Put yourself in the shoes of your loved ones. 5. Walk away for a while, if necessary to collect your thoughts. Anger can hamper logical thinking. Try this to overcome the roadblock to success as a family. Wish you all the best in your journey.

Classyrose (Rosemary)and I were just discussing this very thing not too long ago. She said that she had received almost the same advice from you as I had given her. "Happy are the peaceable." Right? (I truly do believe that.) We'll be a bright Polyanna group on Qondio. *grin*
